Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common (80–90%) of all primary minor salivary gland tumors to arise within the parapharyngeal space. These tumors may occur in any age group, but they most often present between 40 and 50 years of age. Males and females are equally affected.

Yttrar sig som en liten, smärtfri och fast knuta, vanligen i öronspottkörteln. Drabbar oftast kvinnor över 40 år. Engelsk definition. The patient underwent left parotid mass resection and histology revealed: The sections show a pleomorphic adenoma composed of confluent cords, nests and a myxoid stroma with focal evidence of benign cartilage formation. Non-adenomas, for instance metastases, generally enhance rapidly, but take longer to washout. Absolute washout A dedicated adrenal washout CT protocol consists of a non-contrast, a contrast -enhanced scan with a delay of 60-90 sec and a delayed scan at 15 minutes.

In this study we describe 4 cases of MPAs and perform the first molecular study linking them to conventional PA. The index Hepatic adenomas are reported to be solitary in 70%–80% of cases, but it is not unusual to encounter two or three adenomas in one patient, particularly at multiphasic CT or MR imaging (, 13,, 14).

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common salivary gland neoplasm and infrequently undergoes malignant transformation. Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma is typically an infiltrative neoplasm with features of cellular pleomorphism, high mitotic activity, peri-neural and vascular invasion. Pleomorphic adenoma may show various architectural and cytologic features that resemble other salivary tumors Identifying areas typical of pleomorphic adenoma with triphasic ductal, myoepithelial and stromal components is helpful to establish the diagnosis

Conclusions: Almost all pleomorphic adenomas have focally thin capsules. One-fourth of all pleomorphic adenomas contain abnormalities such as satellite nodules or pseudopodia. Pleomorphic adenomas with atypical features should be sampled extensively to rule out the possibility of malignancy. Differential diagnosis. carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma. CEPA is typically an infiltrative neoplasm with features as cellular pleomorphism, high mitotic activity, peri-neural and vascular invasion. Open references Pleomorphic adenoma, also referred to as benign mixed tumors (BMTs), is a benign or a non-cancerous growth in the salivary gland, the most commonly occurring parotid tumor.

Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma is the most common of three malignant mixed tumors of salivary glands, and are thought to arise from pre-existing pleomorphic adenomas (or benign mixed tumors) 1.
